Follow-up survey among hbo alumni

The fieldwork for the HBO-Monitor 2025 will start soon. This year, in addition to the regular survey among recent graduates (approximately one and a half years after graduation), we are also conducting a follow-up survey among alumni who completed their hbo programmes four to eight years ago. With this follow-up study, we aim to gain deeper insight into the career paths of hbo alumni in the medium term.

The questionnaire will be sent to former participants of the regular HBO-Monitor who previously indicated that they were open to follow-up research. In this follow-up survey, we ask alumni about their current position in the labour market several years after graduation, their participation in further education and training (lifelong learning), and their use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace. These topics are especially relevant today, as technological developments and changing labour market demands influence how professionals continue to develop themselves. The results will help universities of applied sciences better understand how graduates shape their careers in this context, and how they can adapt their education and student support accordingly.

In addition, the findings provide valuable information to support alumni in their ongoing professional development and give prospective students a more realistic picture of long-term career prospects. The fieldwork for the follow-up study will run in parallel with the regular HBO Monitor 2025.
